Reset BIOS password using Linux live CD

The use of this guide can be one of the following reasons, either you have forgotten your BIOS password or you have a computer to repair that have a BIOS password that need to be reset.

To do so we need Linux liveCD, I prefer GParted because it is lightweight and has the required packages, Of course if you prefer another distribution just make sure that the commands “modprobe / dd” are fully operational.

Download and create bootable CD from GParted website:

Load the system and open the Terminal now run this commands:

modprobe nvram
dd if=/dev/zero of=/dev/nvram

Then reboot the PC.
It should reset the CMOS memory on most BIOS systems.
